The following was posted to the HBRobotics email list I subscribe to and I thought it might be useful to those interested in development for the OpenServo or in other AVR development. I can't vouch for the accuracy, but the deals on the STK500 and Dragon sound very good.

If you are into the AVR32 the JTAGICE2 would potentially come in very useful.

Subject: [HBRobotics] Attn AVR users: JTAGICE2 deal at Digikey

Warning: Do not eat JTAG programmers!

Digikey is running a great deal on the JTAGICE MkII unit. A The JTAGICE2 with a STK500 for $150. A JTAGICE2 is regularly $299 by itself. Also, they are running a deal on STK500 + Dragon for $49, where the Dragon alone is regularly $49.

The JTAGICE2 allows on-chip debugging -- I use it with gcc and gdb -- view source on the host and single step the AVR. Very nice.

Why???? The story on the street is that these units are not RoHS compliant, and they are clearing out old stock at fire sale prices. DO NOT EAT! These JTAG programmers MAY contain LEAD!

If you go to the web site, DigiKey shows QTY: 0. Do not be alarmed. There are units in the pipeline, I was quoted a one week lead time. If you want one, place your order to get in the queue. Waiting around for a non-zero quantity to show up in the data base is likely to leave you without a unit.

Search on: avrdevkit

Again: DO NOT EAT JTAG PROGRAMMERS!
