Hi,
My name is Brian Gunnison and I am an embedded software engineer. My interest in robotics is due to the multi-disciplinary requirements, real-time programming and fun-factor. I was lucky to be hired by Evolution Robotics for one year to work on their vision system and I was given an offer by iRobot for a position, but I did not want to move to MA.
The hobbyist movement in robotics is taking off with Microsoft releasing their Robotics Studio and iRobot releasing their Create platform. Hobbyist electronics combined with Open Source software is where a lot of the innovation is coming from. The more people involved the faster robots evolve.
OpenServo looks interesting as I?d like to see the equivalent for other peripherals and even meta-up for OpenRobotics.

Hi brian, and welcome to OpenServo. It seems you are well versed in the disciplines of robotics, I hope you can bring some of that knowledge to the project.
OpenRobotics is a great idea. I am contemplating doing a couple of Open's myself, and I know of at least one other person that would love to see OpenBiped or similar.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions!
